With a $49.5 million dollar price tag, this classic limestone loft mansion in Tribeca is a New Yorkers dream. Space is hard to find in a Manhattan apartment and this building offers 30,000 square feet of it. Although it was built in 1862, the entire building was gutted and renovated both cosmetically and structurally. The historic charm of the property was retained, yet the design incorporated modern style and conveniences, like an elevator and basement basketball court and gym. The opulence and style of the loft mansion are undeniable and it has an astonishing six floors above ground and two floors below of living and commercial space, not to mention a rooftop terrace. It isnt clear whether the building will be converted into more practical condos or kept as an outlandish single family home but the work that Studio Rivelli Architects put into this renovation is indeed breathtaking.

The grand fireplace is the focal point and the exposed ductwork keeps alive the fact that this building was once a shoe factory.

The dark hardwood warms the home while the exposed brick keeps it industrialized. The floor to ceiling book shelves make this one grand in-home library.

The main living areas have so much space that it was easy to create a living room yet a gaming room all in one area. The real stunner is the glass stair case that gives this building a truly modern style.

This impressive staircase can be seen on the top three floors that are considered the owner’s triplex, as it continues here into an open gallery space.

The kitchen is fit for a master chef with top of the line stainless steel appliances. The space is huge with a balcony overlooking the room. Rather than typical kitchen cabinets, the designers chose open shelving to store dishes.

Adjacent to the kitchen is this classic, spacious dining area.

The sixth floor has patio access as well as a stairwell to the rooftop patio. It also has a skylight that brightens the entire space. The design here is bold with espresso wood floors and royal blue walls and carpeting.

The sixth floor also has a music room hosting both classic and contemporary instruments. Another more casual living room area is also seen with yet another skylight.
